MICHEL ROBERT'S TIPS
Let’s try to picture the entire show jumping season and establish long-term targets. The goal is not the next show but the whole season: namely, the crucial goals that we have set out in our calendar. Whether it is a show or everyday training, it is fundamental to plan well in advance what we want to do and never improvise. The moment the rider takes action and trains with his horse, he/she must know exactly what they want. Every action and every objective must be clearly and confidently well-planned early on in our minds. When I take my pupils to a show, I tell them to only watch the good riders so as to then have positive examples and only correct images in their minds. This, together with the planning of every single action, as well as the whole day, also helps eliminate fear.
